Food Doula Support

Food often becomes one of the hardest things to consistently manage during postpartum. Between feeding a baby, recovering physically, navigating sleep deprivation, and adjusting to new routines, even simple meals can start to feel difficult to plan, prepare, or keep up with day to day.

My goal is to help reduce some of that daily pressure through simple, home-cooked meals and practical kitchen support tailored to each household.

A Whole-Food Approach to Postpartum Cooking

My approach to postpartum food is rooted in simple, home-cooked meals made primarily from whole and minimally processed ingredients.

I naturally gravitate toward foods that feel grounding, hydrating, comforting, and easy to digest during postpartum recovery, especially meals that can realistically support daily life with a new baby.

This often includes:

soups and broths

stews and slow-cooked meals

protein-rich breakfasts

freezer-friendly dishes

handheld snacks for breastfeeding mothers

warm meals that are simple to reheat and eat throughout the day

At the same time, I believe food should feel comforting rather than restrictive or rigid during postpartum.

Every family has different preferences, traditions, dietary needs, comfort foods, budgets, and relationships with food. My goal is not to impose rigid ideas around eating, but to help make food feel more manageable, comforting, and supportive during a time that can otherwise feel physically and emotionally overwhelming.

What Food Support May Look Like

Food support is adapted to the needs and preferences of each household and may include:

Preparing meals and snacks during visits

Batch cooking for the week ahead

Freezer-friendly meal preparation

Preparing soups, stews, broths, and simple postpartum meals

Helping keep food and water accessible throughout the day

Supporting the feeding and meal needs of toddlers and other children in the home

Light kitchen reset and cleanup related to meal preparation

Adapting meals to dietary needs and household preferences

Reducing the daily mental load surrounding food during postpartum

Scheduling & Availability

Food Doula Support can be incorporated into daytime postpartum visits or scheduled as more cooking-focused support depending on each family’s needs.

Some families are looking for occasional support during the early weeks, while others prefer more consistent food preparation during postpartum recovery and adjustment.

I primarily serve families in Montgomery County and nearby areas, including parts of Frederick County and Carroll County.
